Mhaismal Hill Station
The earliest signs of any eco-tourism in the vicinity of Aurangabad was wayback in the 70's when children went for picnic to Mahismal hills. Due to its proximity to Aurangabad is a popular picnic spot located in the Khuldabad Taluka. Its surrounding are endowed with a beautiful water body. Due to the Jaikwadi back water the water is captured in the area. Added significance to Mahismal is due to its spiritual importance. The famous Siddheshwar Temple lying near it has a historical origin. This temple is referred recently in the "Great Maratha" serial as a place where Rama killed the cruel rakshasa Maricha. The name Siddheshwar is the result of Rama's victory over Maricha. Beside this temple, the other temples in the area are Rameshwar, Ghotishwar and Mukteshwar all lying in the banks of the romantic lake. There are rest houses and guest houses for those who want to spend their nights. Dormitories are also provided. A plan to develop this area and build holiday resort is also coming up.
